3 Top Best Restaurants in Cape Town Area – Have You Been?
These 3 Cape Town restaurants have made it to the top 100 fine dining restaurants in the world. The Elite Traveller compiled the list based on traveller votes. While trying to show how they compiled the list I also came across another link where they list top Cape Town restaurants. Have a look as list some interesting restaurants. For interest; the top restaurant in the world is Alinea in Chicago.
The Test Kitchen
by Luke Dale-Roberts at the The Old Biscuit Mill, 375 Albert Rd, Cape Town 7915.
Luke Dale-Roberts’ The Test Kitchen, which opened in November 2010, has the celebrated chef cooking at his most creative in a distinctive contemporary space.
British-born Luke trained in Switzerland and England before heading to Asia for a five-year stint, launching several restaurants in Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and the Philippines. “My time in Europe taught me to cook; my time in Asia broadened my horizons”, says Luke.
The second one on the list is not really in Cape Town but rather in Franschhoek at 82 in the world.
The award-winning dinner restaurant, is headed up by Grand Chef Margot Janse. It offers a 5 or 8 course surprise tasting menu, with the option of wine pairing. This is the experience of a lifetime and advance bookings are required.
The third top restaurant is in Stellenbosch 85.
This restaurant is headed John Shuttleworth – Head Chef. He leads the young team made up by Fabio Daniel, Jean Delport, Katlego Mlambo, Josh O’Connor, Prince Murambadoro as well as Sone Jacobs and Vandeline Pienaar in pastry.
You’ll love the food, setting and incredible service! Every course was a melting delight. Also the atmosphere is most relaxing.
With a setting like this who would not like to visit Rust en Vrede next time you visit Cape Town?
And then you can finish the day with another lovely desert at Rust en Vrede:
Other top restaurants in Cape Town:
- The Food Barn Noordhoek. This restaurant is a lot less expensive and really a great restaurant to visit. I want to say that you should watch out for this restaurant. It will become more and popular.
- La Colombe in Constantia is one of those consistently in the top. Update by Tours du Cap: The estate was sold and the new owners have closed both restaurants. There’s talk of opening La Colombe elsewhere but that might be just a rumour. (By the by, the new owners also want to develop part of the land and the local residents are up in arms, quite rightly – hope they win the battle as it would be a great pity).
Now you have 5 top Cape Town restaurants to visit. I hope you enjoy.
